As the genocide continues, so does our advocacy for Palestine.

Dear Supporter,

Today, American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) mourns the 1,000th day of Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. For nearly three years, the United States has aided and abetted in facilitating one of the worst crimes against humanity ever inflicted upon a civilian population in modern-day history.

80% of Gaza now lives under Israeli occupation as convicted Israeli war criminal Bezalel Smotrich plans to establish illegal settlements in Gaza as an instrument of dispossession and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people.

Since October 2023, over 73,000 (conservative estimate) Palestinians have been killed. More than 8,000 people remain trapped beneath the rubble, while lifesaving aid and reconstruction materials that could have saved countless lives have been systematically blocked by Israel. Despite Israel's suffocating 18-year blockade, Palestinians found ways to make Gaza a bustling metropolis with immense potential. Today, it has been reduced to an apocalyptic landscape buried beneath an estimated 60 million tons of rubble. Entire bloodlines have been wiped out. Neighborhoods erased. Lifetimes of memories reduced to ashes by the criminal Israeli regime. Palestinians for generations to come have been inflicted with profound trauma because the U.S. and international community have failed to meaningfully hold Israel accountable for its crimes.

Aside from a greater assault on the Palestinian people, Israel’s genocide in Gaza has become a campaign of systematic erasure of Palestinian faith, identity, and institutions. Since October 2023, Israeli forces have destroyed or damaged nine out of every ten mosques in Gaza,  including the Great Omari Mosque, the oldest mosque in Gaza. Churches have been systematically targeted. Palestinian Muslims and Christians alike have been forced to bury their loved ones in makeshift graves or leave family members trapped beneath the rubble.

AMP condemns the criminal “Board of Peace” created by the Trump administration. This corrupt board has enabled Israel to continue its genocide and is working hand in hand with Israel to proliferate the suffering of Palestinians. Much of Gaza’s population now lives in tents as Trump’s purported “Board of Peace” plans to place Palestinians into “humanitarian shelters,” reducing an entire people to confinement and dependency on a system that does not value their lives.

Additionally, this criminal board seeks to dismantle the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), a vital institution serving Palestinian refugees displaced since the Nakba in 1948. Eliminating UNRWA has always been Israel’s goal, as it would undermine Palestinian refugee rights, the internationally recognized right of return, and the Palestinian people's enduring connection to their homeland.

Furthermore, the Board of Peace is operating as an illegal slush fund pillaging Palestinians of precious resources. The board is attempting to steal $5 billion of Palestinian tax revenues that Israel has withheld from the Palestinian Authority to finance its own administration in Gaza instead of returning those funds to the Palestinian people. Those funds are essential for paying public-sector workers, sustaining hospitals, schools, and other basic services.

Efforts to collapse key Palestinian institutions come as Israel continues to accelerate its illegal settlement enterprise across the occupied West Bank. Israel has used the cover of its genocide in Gaza to ethnically cleanse and displace Palestinians in the West Bank, creating over 363 outposts, including 114 illegal settlements. This has resulted in Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) and settlers killing over 1100 Palestinians.

Despite the overwhelming evidence that Israel has facilitated grave human rights violations against the Palestinian people with American weaponry, our government has chosen to continue granting Israel the tools and impunity to execute these crimes unabated. We call upon the U.S. and the international community to implement a comprehensive arms embargo and targeted economic sanctions against institutional enablers of illegal settler violence and perpetrators of the genocide against the righteous people of Gaza.

We grieve the immeasurable loss of the tens of thousands of Palestinians murdered in Israel's brutal genocide, and we honor the perseverance of those who continue to endure unimaginable suffering. We remain steadfast in our commitment to the Palestinian people and will continue fighting until this genocide and the broader Zionist occupation, apartheid and settler colonial project are permanently brought to an end, justice is served, and those responsible are held accountable.

In solidarity,
American Muslims for Palestine (AMP)
