Every attempt to suppress our movement only reinforces why our work matters. We will continue to win. Dear Supporter, After nearly two years of relentless attacks, justice has prevailed, yet again. On February 24th, a federal court in Florida dismissed all claims against American Muslims for Palestine and many of its leaders. We proudly celebrate this victory and the clear affirmation that our advocacy is lawful, protected, and rooted in fundamental constitutional rights. We are deeply grateful to our extraordinary legal team, Christina Jump of Jump Start Legal Justice Center, along with Samira E. and Ali Boyd of the Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA). The MLFA has represented AMP for many years and has assembled an outstanding team of attorneys under the leadership of Ms. Jump, for which we remain profoundly grateful. We deeply appreciate their continued dedication and professionalism as the team continues under Jump Start Legal Justice Center. With this highly qualified and capable legal team, AMP has successfully defeated four frivolous and malicious federal lawsuits to date. They tried to come after us for using our constitutionally protected rights. They attempted to drain our resources, to weigh us down. To intimidate us into silencing our advocacy. They tried to weaponize the legal system to chill constitutionally protected speech. They tried to make an example out of us. But they failed, and anyone else who believes they can weaponize the courts to intimidate or silence us will fail too. The law is not a tool for repression, and our commitment to justice cannot be litigated away. The truth does not disappear because it is inconvenient to the oppressor's agenda. No matter how persistent the oppressor, no matter how coordinated the intimidation, truth endures. βWhat the plaintiffs offered were merely allegations built on falsehoods, selective inferences, and layers of manipulation and distortion. We know that our opponents are attempting to silence our voice through intimidation and frivolous lawsuits. But they forget that we have a Constitution, the rule of law, and an independent judiciary in the United States,β said Dr. Osama Abu Irshaid, Executive Director of American Muslims for Palestine (AMP). βAt AMP, we reaffirm that we will never relinquish our constitutional rights under any form of pressure or unlawful intimidation. We remain more determined than ever to defend all those who face injusticeβforemost among them, the Palestinian people.β AMP's lead counsel, Christina Jump, said: "These plaintiffs, like others before them, used vague and broad offensive language. They equated support for Palestinians with support for illegal activities. But the law never intended that, and the courts require more. AMP won this lawsuit, just like it won several others in the past few months. We'll keep fighting for what's right, and we'll keep celebrating when AMP wins." To those who believe they can exhaust us into silence, understand this: every attempt to suppress our movement only reinforces why our work matters. Every failed lawsuit exposes the weakness of their claims. And every victory strengthens our resolve. We will not be intimidated. We will not be silenced. And we will continue to advocate, unapologetically and lawfully, for justice, freedom, and dignity for the Palestinian people. In solidarity, American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) |
