Dear President Joseph Biden,

As concerned U.S. citizens and residents, we urge you to take immediate action to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and impose an immediate arms embargo on Israel. The end of the year is approaching, and with it, the ongoing genocide in Gaza has resulted in a heartbreaking and devastating loss of Palestinian lives. You can bring an end to this assault on human life, and you must act accordingly.

The Tragic Toll:
Over the last three months, Israel has killed over 21,000 Palestinians in Gaza and injured more than 54,000 Palestinians, many critically. Approximately 70% of Palestinians killed by Israel have been women and children; this does not include the overwhelming majority of civilian men nor the thousands of Palestinians still stuck under the rubble. Additionally, over 90 journalists and 200+ medical professionals have also been murdered. 

Reports from credible sources, including an investigation by CNN, reveal that 40-45 percent of the 29,000 air-to-surface munitions dropped on the densely populated Strip have been unguided ‘dumb bombs.’’ These bombs have been proven deadly and are responsible for many of the civilian casualties in Gaza. 

The Role of U.S. Munitions:
Many of the bombs dropped indiscriminately by Israel on Gaza are the 2,000-pound MK-84 bomb; these dumb bombs are manufactured in the United States and are, in large, supplied by your Administration.

The devastation in Gaza is, unfortunately, marked by the use of these U.S.-made bombs, revealing our role in this ongoing genocide. This is not to mention the United State’s role in shielding Israel from legal and political consequences for its violations of international law and norms.

Selective Morality is Unacceptable:
Your Administration’s call for Israel to stop “indiscriminate bombing” while providing Israel political cover and the very weapons they're using to bomb Palestinians indiscriminately rings completely hollow, especially when juxtaposed with your Administration’s condemnation of the war in Ukraine. The safety and lives of Palestinian civilians should not be a matter of selective morality or a pawn in election politics.

Immediate Action Required: 
We urge you, as the leader of our country, to stand on the right side of history: Use your powers to implement an immediate and complete ceasefire in Gaza and pose an immediate arms embargo on Israel. 

This is not just a geopolitical imperative but a moral necessity to prevent further loss of innocent lives. You must change your administration’s stance on this assault. More than 21,000 Palestinians have been killed already, and every day that you do not ensure a ceasefire and arms embargo, more Palestinians will be killed. Those alive today may not be alive tomorrow if you do not stand on the right side of history. We urge you to use your powers as the President of the United States to implement a ceasefire in Gaza and end the United States’ complicity in the genocide.
